HOT TOPIC: A most explosive issue

Ridding all nations of nuclear weapons creates a safer world, or so the prevailing logic goes. Now comes Jonathan Tepperman in a recent Newsweek essay maintaining the opposite. He points to the 64 year abstinence since Nagasaki of even non-nuclear wars between nations capable of waging them.

Counterintuitive as it appears the argument that nukes strike such fear they actually induce deterrence may have validity.
